Tolosa Tax Tolosa Tax is a tax preparation firm started by Karen and Erik with a passion to help small business owners and individuals manage and grow their financial well-being. With a strong accounting and tax background, the firm provides clients with expert advice, professionalism, responsiveness, and peace of mind.

Karen Bolen Karen was first introduced to the tax profession by working for her dad's tax firm. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and her Master of Science in Kinesiology at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo. After several years working at Stanford University, Karen earned her Enrolled Agent license and started a successful tax firm. When not working, Karen enjoys taking advantage of the nearby trails, mountain biking and hiking with her husband and dogs throughout Whatcom County.

Erik Slayter Erik's MBA and undergraduate degree in Accounting were both earned from Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo. Erik is a recently retired professor at Cal Poly. Prior to academia, he worked as a controller for companies in industries ranging from waste management to horticulture as well as roles in public accounting performing audits and preparing tax returns. In his free time, Erik can be found riding his mountain bike, hiking, or volunteering for the Whatcom Mountain Bike Coalition.
